If you fight those battles manually you can kill enough attackers that you can then finish them off even with a weaker stack. Usually, if you put a garrison in a colony, the AI ends up attacking some outposts and sector exploitations first. You should be able to beat them in the field with a couple of decent stacks, and on the defense with 1 decent stack and a garrison upgrade or two. The armies can spawn from any stack, even those 4 Paragon goons standing on a resource node. And make sure to clear out ANY stack of that faction near your empire interior.

You should have enough time to move scouts out of the way and move in some defending stacks. Of course, it pays to make sure you pick a fight with a faction you are well equipped to handle.Īnd pay attention to the warning you get when they come to attack you.
